Kansas City pair arrested

On March 12th, 2024, deputies with the Searcy County Sheriff's Office contacted a silver Ford Escape due to a traffic violation, in the Leslie area.  After approaching the vehicle and making contact with the driver, 30-year-old Taurean Carter of and a passenger, 24-year-old Mya Smith, both of Kansas City, Missouri, the deputy smelled marijuana.  During this time a Marshall P.D. officer arrived to assist.

During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located and seized 1 box containing marijuana, 2 baggies containing marijuana and 2 bags containing THC Gummies.   

Both Taurean Carter and Mya Smith were arrested for possession of schedule 6 narcotics, less than 4oz., and given a Searcy County District Court date.  Taurean Carter was also issued a citation for a traffic violation.
